Attlaw Security provides protection and security to some very high profile companies and although their service offering was strong, they encountered some problems as a result of poor financial management and planning. Our appointment came when Attlaw were approximately £250k insolvent & facing a serious cashflow crisis. We achieved a turnaround, grooming the company for 3 years and finally selling for an initial consideration of £5m and a total potential consideration of £12m.
Stewart Group are brokers for the provision of offshore tug supplies and ship salvage - World-wide, with UK head offices in London and Aberdeen. Initially engaged to help reshape the business, we arranged the buy-out by 5 directors & restructured the group from 50 entities to 6. Further down the line, we raised funding for 2 directors to buy-out the other 3 for £1/2m and have provided ongoing support since.
Gradebrook Filling Stations is a newly launched petrol forecourt business, with new sites being acquired all over the country. In trying to build the business, John Carter, the major individual shareholder in Gradebrook, soon found that there were fundamental challenges to overcome - in terms of getting funding in place for the acquisition targets, establishing the right structure to accommodate businesses with very different histories and avoiding problem purchases that could sap the profitability of the group as a whole. He approached Hyde to package a deal that was attractive to the banks and individual investors. We raised over £1.2 million for the first tranch of the project and are working with him to raise additional funds for future acquisition targets. We have also helped him to structure a plan to grow the business within a framework that will produce the best returns going forward.
Darwin Rhodes Ltd, a leading recruitment consultancy, had grown from its three founders in 1996 to become a global recruitment firm specialising in the financial sector, with a high profile client list and offices in the UK, the Far East and Australia. Hyde Corporate Finance were approached to facilitate the retirement of one of the founding Directors and introduce new funding for the group to facilitate further growth. This involved restructuring the group to maximise its attractiveness and introducing the investors to supplement the capital put in by the directors. We introduced a venture capital fund that invested £250,000 and raised a further £740,000 from our own network of investors and business angels.
